Animal charms live or die on the personality of the thing, and this little cat has personality for days. She's stretched out mid-pounce, completely engrossed in her ball, with all the focus and determination that cats seem able to summon only for the silliest activities imaginable.
What I love most is the movement. So many animal charms feel stiff or static, but this one has that lovely sense of action. The sculpting is wonderfully expressive too, right down to the curve of the tail and the slightly chaotic energy of the pose.
Cats have long been associated with independence, curiosity and good fortune, appearing in jewellery for centuries as symbols of protection and companionship. This one feels a little less dignified than some of her historical predecessors, which only makes me like her more.
Exactly the sort of charm that makes people stop and ask questions when they spot it tucked amongst a collection. Every charm bracelet needs at least one piece with a sense of humour.
