These are the kind of earrings that look like they should be heavy and then you put them on and your brain short-circuits a little. The silhouette is bold and dramatic, all pointed rays and scrolling wirework and little dangling gold balls, and somehow they sit like nothing on the ear.
The detailing is fantastic. That milgrain-edged inner crescent, the curling volutes framing each point, the balls clustered and dropping from the lower edge. It's a lot, in the best possible way. This is the vocabulary of cannetille goldsmithing, the decorative language that had its heyday in the early nineteenth century and has never really stopped being beautiful.
