I dunno why if a locket is round, like ROUND round it just does it for my different; but it does. Is it because it feels like an old coin - a bit of treasure? Or do the medallion-esque vibes feel like a shield?
It's not the most common locket shape but boy am I pleased when I find it. Add to that this is a 100% gold example. Most antique lockets are 9ct B&F which has lots of advantages but if you're a purist you need to keep your eyes peeled for the fully gold ones because they come up way less often.
The engraved design on this is delightfully detailed and the condition of the engraving is excellent - she truly has stood the test of time.
There is something hauntingly beautiful about sentimental antique jewellery that dates from the war. Makes you wonder if this was perhaps a gift for a loved one, to carry important photos while people were kept apart.
