Antique Double Stamp Case Envelope
Antique Double Stamp Case Envelope
Pieces like this really get me. Anyone familiar with Victorian jewellery knows that the Victorians loved themselves a curiosity, a bit of whimsy, something that was made just for the sake of making it. Unnecessary, over the top, flamboyant. These little silver envelopes were filled with stamps and added to gents pocket chains. You actually see even more of them around the First World War because many soldiers took them away as tokens of good luck, and an instruction to write often from their sweethearts. This is a rare double example, perhaps for those hoping to keep separate their classes of stamp. Very fancy! I've not had one like this before and it's a treat.

Please note
The expectation with antique and vintage jewellery is that there will be normal signs of wear commensurate with age eg. scuffs and patina. Lovers of antique and vintage jewellery usually value these things for giving their piece history and character.
I make every effort to clearly list any defects above usual wear, and to take clear photos that represent the item clearly.
The photos constitute part of the description and we ask you view them carefully before purchasing.
