We can arrange Hard Gold Plating for your jewellery, with 5 microns applied to your piece. We’ve found this to be the sweet spot between cost and longevity. For reference, the industry standard for “premium” gold plating (such as vermeil jewellery) is 2.5 microns.
This service can be used to plate sterling silver jewellery to give it the appearance of gold, or to plate gold jewellery in order to change or enrich the colour, making it appear more yellow.
The photo shows an example of how 9ct Hard Gold Plating looks. Please note there will be some variation in colour depending on the construction and age of the jewellery, so use this as a guide only. In general, 9ct Hard Gold Plating is a soft yellow, sometimes with warm undertones, although not pink.
Gold plating will naturally wear over time, particularly on areas that experience friction. The longevity of the plating depends on how the piece is worn and cared for. Rings and bracelets typically show wear sooner than pendants or chains.
The plating service can take up to four weeks from order to dispatch, so please bear this in mind when ordering.
